C++98
The first ISO C++ standard. Established templates, the STL (containers, algorithms, iterators), exception handling, namespaces, and RTTI. Superseded by C++11, but still the foundation that all C++ is built on.
STL containers
vector, list, deque, map, set, multimap, multiset — the original container library.
STL algorithms
sort, find, copy, transform, for_each — algorithm library over iterator ranges.
Templates
Function and class templates — parameterized types and algorithms.
Namespaces
Namespace declarations to avoid name collisions. std:: prefix for the standard library.
Exception handling
try/catch/throw, std::exception hierarchy, RAII for exception safety.
RTTI
typeid, dynamic_cast — runtime type identification.
IOstreams
std::cin, std::cout, std::fstream — stream-based I/O library.
std::string
std::string class replacing C-style char arrays with a safe, owning string.
